Mutt Putt 2026: Join Us!

Our inaugural fauxtel mini golf tournament is on the schedule— Mutt Putt— the evening of Tuesday, March 24th, starting at 6:30! Limited to 30 teams of two.

The cost? sign up as a team of 2 people for only $45.

The beneficiary? Richmond Animal Care and Control’s Tommie Fund, which assists in covering the costs of emergency medical care for animals in need at municipal animal shelters and public animal control agencies across the Commonwealth. An essential cause close to our hearts. All tournament fees plus proceeds from the sale of a special cocktail and mocktail at the event will be donated.

The format? We talked and talked, thought long and hard, ruminated, then thought and talked some more. This is what we settled on for maximum fun and team spirit. Two scheduled rounds: first, best ball each hole among the duo; second, combined overall course score. Oh, the first round may offer relief from Hole 12 if one player struggles, but not the second. In the event of a tie between the top two teams, a sudden death playoff will ensue.

The prizes? First prize… the GOLDEN PUTTER. Literally to hang on the wall, but also in spirit as it entitles both team members to free golf at Hotel Greene for a full year. Second prize…. the SILVER PUTTER. Again, physical trophies but also 1/2-price golf at Hotel Greene for a full year. Third and fourth place get a colorful koozie set. Plus, on an individual basis, prizes for most holes in one, highest overall round score (because you tried! it was just a bad day), and — if someone can make it happen— course record.

The swag? C’mon. Herr Kleist never passes up an opportunity for a new Leslie Herman t-shirt, so each participant gets a limited edition gold tee with a perky dog graphic and a #teamtommie note. Plus a luggage sticker. Plus a laminated badge to hang on the fridge. That is a lot for $45.

Anything else? Team name! Choose the name of a favorite pet you’ve gotten to know and love. Grab your friend or loved one and join us. No age restriction on this one, so pair up with your tween or teen for a gadget-free family outing.

So many of us on the reception team end a long shift with a drink at Steven’s bar. After so many requests for favorites from menus past, he gave in! Our gift to you, and to ourselves.

Need a peppy, lovely tippler that finishes with you browsing flights for a Spring getaway? Try the “I’m Bored, Take Me to Paris” before checking your credit card balance. Prefer to remain, for now, by the fire enjoying the last month of winter? I recommend the “Broken Heirloom” for its velvety texture and hint of maple.

Like any grand hotel at the end of many long and drama-filled phases of development, design, and construction, Hotel Greene had to make a few cost-saving decisions near the end. But, now, why fix what ultimately isn’t broken? A secret shared— in a few rooms, the fancy wainscot panelling is actually an expert paint job of shade and shadows and light by master Steven LaRose. If you are lucky enough to get to stay in Rooms 208 or 211, test yourself. Can you see it from the bed, gazing towards the bathroom? Or do you have to get close, like the rest of us, and only know for sure by touching.
